Women in the Home Industries Today (WithIt) announced that it is inviting  participating educational institutions and members to nominate student candidates for its Jena and Stephen Hall Scholarship awards totaling $5,000 annually.

Winners for the 2009-2010 school year will be announced this summer during the annual WithIt WOW Awards Gala and dinner on August 12th at the Embassy Suites Hotel Resort and Conference Center Charlotte – Concord, North Carolina.

Applications are available online at http://www.withit.org/ and must be completed and postmarked by April 20, 2009.

WithIt, the leading industry organization dedicated to the support and development of professional women, raises funds through its scholarship foundation established in 1997. Judging for the annual reward takes place each spring and is based on students’ academic performance, as reflected in grade point average, SAT/ACT scores and students’ choice of curriculum. Subjective judging criteria include essays, references and a statement of personal goals.

Last year’s winners were Catherine Claire Keane, a Meredith College student in Raleigh, NC, and Shannon Rae Peterson, a then rising junior at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. Both are interior design program majors and their WithIt scholarship funds were applied toward tuition and expenses.

In 2007, the Foundation kicked off its campaign to raise $100,000 by 2009 in order to provide more scholarships for qualified candidates. Individuals and companies in the home furnishings industries are encouraged to make tax-deductible donations and gifts to the 501C 3 designated not for profit.
